PAC Space Usage

AUDITIONS

Groups will receive information about their auditions times/venues at the discretion of their sub-committee chairs before the school year begins.

Rehearsals

  • Most a cappella and music groups rehearse in classrooms or multipurpose rooms in VPUL spaces like Williams Hall or Houston Hall. These spaces can be reserved at http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/perelmanquad/reserve/reserve.php.
  • Rooms in college houses can also be reserved by residents of that college house.
  • An email about reserving reoccurring space in Platt House will be sent out before the school year begins.
  • If you are not using regularly scheduled rehearsal space you must cancel it with at least 2 working days notice.
  • The DAC Chair manages DAC weekly reoccurring space reservations with the support of Platt House staff.
  • All rehearsal changes, cancellations, inquires, etc. should be addressed to both the DAC chair and the Associate Director of Platt.
  • If you are not using regularly scheduled rehearsal space you must cancel it with at least 2 working days notice.
  • Theatre, Mask and Wig, and Bloomers rehearsal schedules are done on a monthly basis by the Theatre Arts Council Chair and Platt House.
  • If you are not using regularly scheduled rehearsal space you must cancel it with at least 2 working days notice.

Space Specific Information

If you are in a VPUL Space (IGT, ARCH, Irvine or Houston Hall) and there is no staff person to unlock the space, call 215-399-6019.

  • Loading and unloading must happen from the rear driveway off Sansom Street.You may NOT use the small parking area in front.
  • Load in on Sundays cannot happen until 1pm
  • No food or drinks are allowed in the theatre
  • Work Light Hour Rules: minimum of two hours on any day they are requested; maximum of 10 hours for the week; no work light hours on performance days
  • During Work Light Hours, groups do not have access to lighting booth or grid; there is no in-house sound; no use of tools, ladders, or genies are permitted

General Guidelines

  • Rehearsal space is never guaranteed.
  • Respect all rehearsal spaces
A la Carte rehearsal space is available by completing the Rehearsal Space Request Form (http://www.vpul.upenn.edu/platthouse/rehearsalspace)
  • If you have a problem with a VPUL space (Houston Hall, Williams, ARCH, IGT, Irvine) not being opened or staffed please call a VPUL manager at 215-399-6019.
  • Space reservations can be changed or cancelled even within 24-hours due to University closure or space constraints.
  • Standing space reservations are not in effect for University holidays and breaks.
  • PAC-sponsored activity including mandatory rehearsals is not permitted during Reading Days and Finals.
  • If you are not using regularly scheduled rehearsal space you must cancel it with at least 2 working days notice. Cancellations should be sent to the Megan Edelman (edelmanm@upenn.edu), Associate Director of the Platt Student Performing Arts House, and your sub-committee chair.
